Which desk?

I have an old school desk left behind by a neighbour who moved. At the time of writing it hosts my laptop with USB mouse and mousepad, a USB flash drive, a couple of cigarette lighters, some nitrolingual (http://www.medsafe.govt.nz/profs/datasheet/n/nitrolingualpumpspray.htm) spray, a pen, 1 AAA battery (unused), some cigarette papers, a watch, a pen, a 3.5" floppy (specific contents forgotten), a tube of Deep Heat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Heat_(Heat_rub)), and a couple of stray cigarette butts that somehow got lost on their way to the ashtray.

Holy snot!

laptop
bluetooth mouse
19" CRT monitor
all in one printer
stack of bills ( I travel for a living - they never go away)
digital camera
Q-Tips (never leave home without them)
child's toy
lamp
speakers
6 channel mixer
mouse pad
cd's - dvd's -
paperwork
crap
and stuff

I'd post a pic but I'm too ashamed - all I do is travel now so there is rarely time to clean my home office workstation.
My daughter piles the bills on the desk and I shred them when I get home.

22inch MOnitor
Logitech mouse and keboard
Lamp,
Speakers
Mug of tea
2 coasters with cat pictures on them
Plant.

Plus Marmalade.

Marmalade is new stray kitten that a neighbour phoned me about last night at about 10pm. I went out to rescue it with my cat basket. Its moved in. Its white and ginger. Its so at home. Getting on brilliantly with my other 4 cats German Shepherd and Doberman. Its about 4 months old. You can tell from its condition its a stray. Its well, but thin, tired and it has fleas:D I defleaed it:D

For some reason there seems to a lot of stray cats in my sleepy Bucks village. Its a known fact in the village. If you go out late at night they all come out and congregate together. Several of us are the village stray cat watch. Never mind a neighbour watch there is a stray cat watch in my village lol.

I am keeping Marmalade.

Yes I am known to be animal mad and I have done a lot of work for local animal rescues.

Marmalade has walked across the keyboard and crashed Ubuntu several times. I need to teach Marmalade some PC Linux skills.:D

I did this list for a friend the other day, and it took me more than half an hour...
And my desk is even messier now...
I'll clean it up before doing my list.

After cleaning it up:

A laptop
a mouse
three books (one programming, two french novels)
a notepad
two headphone sets
a wallet
three deck of cards
three rulers
two postal cards (never used them)
a letter
sunglasses
seven markers
six pencils
four bookmarks
two photos
a list I can't read because my father wrote it (he has messy writing)
a big paper clip
a lamp
a magnet
two empty boxes
and... voilà!
And my desk isn't even very big... that barely fits...

But that's only what's ON my desk...
I don't want to think about what's UNDER my desk...
and behind, since there's a shelf there...

A bunch of junk! :p Never do seem to get it totally cleaned up.

Let's see...

The main computer and its three monitors, two desk lamps, Wii, DVD player, Mac Mini, couple calculators, phone, wallet & keys. That's one half. Edit: Oh yeah, a 4-port KVM to switch one keyboard/mouse and one of the monitors between three computers.

The other half is the ham bench. At the moment it has five ham rigs, four scanners, five or six handheld radios, all the other ham-related accessories to go along with them, and - since I'm in the middle of a project to interface some of my scanners to the network - three laptops and a circuit breadboard for the audio pad circuits.

And walking not-so-carefully among all that is a cat or two... (Amazing, the only thing they ever seem to tip over is my water glass! :o )

I now have half a packet of digestives here for dunking purposes

EDIT 2 P.S.: What type of batteries are used in places other than the U.S

The UK uses AA for most things and AAA for most that don't use AA. Smoke alarms use 9V and PCs/Watches use CR232V or something

Wow what a can of worms to open up!
At work (where I am now) I have 3 monitors, 4 computers in various states of disrepair, a big fancy phone, papers, papers and more papers, cords like I wouldn't believe, a laptop that is refusing to let windows be installed on it (while I congratulate the laptop on it's efforts, the poor lady who needs it won't learn linux), a battery back up with a blown battery, hepa filter (mspraying out these computers gets dusty) empty bag from roy rogers, about 20 light bulbs, an empty tea cup :(, jar of peanut butter and a mostly empty bottle of tylenol.

Now at home I have a 26" monitor, keyboard and trackball mouse, a tub of misc computer parts, my computer dissection tools and an authentic F-14 flight helmet complete with oxygen mask just waiting to get hooked into my computer :-).

kewl. I stick with the standard dual head layout, since i usually need the DB up on on side and my app on the other. it's weird how I developed habits as to what kind of window goes on what monitor. just one step closer to insanity I suppose.

all right - here goes.
Keyboard
mouse
dead wireless mouse
two rolls of Kodak Colour plus film
two rubbers (pencil erasers to those stateside)
a lens cap
some plastic cards
an empty cup
some indian ink
a monitor
a small notepad
(thats just the 6 inch strip on the right hand side)
a heap of paper
a tape measure
some elastic bands
some paper clips
an mp3 player
a mini disk player
two stress balls
a PDA
a blotter
a calculator
4 fountain pens
a dead mobile phone
a sharp orgainser
another calculator
a box of Christmas cards
another rubber (Statesiders see above)
a hammer!!!!!
the front spakers of my 5.1 sound system
one of the speakers from my audio system
a roll of wrapping paper
a desk lamp
an inkjet printer
a chess board (with peices laid out)
a letter rack
an audio tape player
a specs case
a putty rubber (not again!)
a pile of scribble paper
a tea cup full or paint brushes (artists)
a tin of drawing pins
a dead ink cartridge
two guitar tuners
some worry beads
some business cards
a key ring
a roll of sellotape
a few CDs
my arms

I would post a picture but I can't find my camera under all this bl...y clutter!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps the desk is only 60 inches by 29 inches. Everything is not laid out neatly, some of is stacked on top of other things. It is less cluttered than my desk at work. It is probably the least clutttered area of my study. A tidy desk is the sign of a sick mind. I am probably having problems adjusting from the years I had to observe the IBM clean desk policy!!

i like the verticle dual monitor, i already have standard 2 head setup, if i ever add a 3rd screen i will probably do it similar to how you have with the verticle sceen, it looks cool

i saw a pic where the person had a verticle monitor in the centre, and 2 wide screen ones each side, it looked very nice, he chose monitors the all fitted together well
