View Full Version : [kubuntu] sleep (suspend to RAM) only works if plugged in to AC power

I've got an hp dv9610us notebook running Kubuntu 9.04, 64bit. Sleep and hibernate both work, but sleep only works when AC power is plugged in (hibernate might do this as well but it takes as long to recover from hibernate as it does to boot clean so I never use it). This is both for entering and restoring. If I start to restore or enter sleep from battery it sits with a black (unlit) screen until I plug in the AC power, then it completes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Since it is working already I'm hoping this is just a tweak to a script or conf file, but I don't know where to start. I'm very comfortable with the CLI but I have no experience with power management.
