I'm Having a problem with my ubuntu installation, I downloaded resently the most up to date version I think 9.04. I installed it, and I'm very happy with it, there is only one little thing I can't figure out how to solve.

If I leave the desktop on for a long time without human interface activity, ubuntu freezes and there is no way to get it back.

I already tried to modify screensaver an specialy power management, but that didn't help.

I searched a littlebit in the net, and what I am thinking, is that it might be a problem of the ubuntu standard Kernel. If this is the case, how can I compile a generic Kernel from kernel.org, and still take advantage of the nice easy to use ubuntu features?

Any help is greatly apreciated!!!

I never had this issue. It could be a hardware incompatibility or something. Also, consider trying a reinstall or the LTS version (8.04). But before you do those, I would suggest trying to find a solution.
