This thread was locked because it had allegedly gone off-topic. Firstly, the thread starter was the one who took it off the original topic within the third post in the thread which would indicate to me that the moderator that locked the thread took a very simplistic view of what the the discussion was actually about, and to be honest it also looked as though the moderator simply wanted to lock the thread to silence azz. Secondly, the thread could easily have been split rather than locked outright.

It's not locked.

The question of the thread has been answered - including many other unrelated questions as well that shouldn't have been included in the thread. What other original question of the thread hasn't been answered? It may be a 'simplistic view' but if people wanted to ask other questions that had very little if anything to do with the thread topic, why not post them to a new thread instead?

No one has been silenced - simply asked to start a new thread instead - when the original topic has nothing to do with any of the new posts whatsoever.

Our guidelines do ask that threads outside of Community Chat stay on-topic, which is a valid request in such a large community.
