Well, I'm not sure if this is configurable somewhere, but it would be a neat idea if newly-installed packages which display a menu item could be highlighted.
For example, the installed package name doesn't always seem to correspond with the name installed under in menus, let alone, where one may expect it to come up - maybe acute alteration in the menu icon / text background would be helpful. Does GNOME or KDE offer this feature?
