Ubuntu 9.04 install on iMac g5 Rev. C Prom_Init Hang

Hello, I am having trouble installing ubuntu (any version) onto my iMac g5, 20" iSight, I believe it to be Rev. C. Any ways, so no matter what boot options i type in at the boot: prompt, it will go through the kernel loading (Elf64, i believe?) and give me a white screen, on the last two lines of which it says:

Calling quiesce...
Returning from prom_init.



And then nothing. It freezes up, and in a minute or so the fans start going crazy.

Any help?
