View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 -> 8.10, still shows old kernel in SysInfo

I did the update manager version of upgrading 8.04 to 8.10. All seems to have worked fine. However, SysInfo still reports 2.6.24-19-generic (and I'm pretty sure Ibex is beyond that ;-)

Any idea what is happening? Or how to correct the info? Am I actually booting 2.6.24-19-generic? If so, is that because every time I was presented with that annoying dialog about MENU.LST, I always chose to keep the local version?

How can I get/check the actual current kernel info using command line?

UPDATE: I updated to 9.04, and selected the "Install package maintainer's version" for menu.lst, but no soap. SysInfo still shows 2.6.24-19-generic instead of 2.6.28-14-generic.

I think this is because my / directory is on /dev/sda3 instead of /dev/sda1 (where it seems to work fine).
