It would be only funny if Outlook did this.

It wasn't one of those email viruses that pretend to be an update to Windows by any chance?

Lisati is right, it might easily be a real fake. You can fake the "from" address incredibly easily, and the "reply to" address is kind of elaborate and fake-looking.

I see that fairly often when receiving Tech Net emails in Thunderbird

Its not, just M$ saying they hit some milestone and are packaging the coasters, and PC companies are setting up the OEM machines with win7.
Still funny would love to see outlook or MSN Live rather (outlook is obsolete) say this.

What would be the point of waiting for an answer to newsletters.microsoft.com ? Domain is owned by MS :-k

I have noticed two reasons that thunderbird will flag stuff:
1. Sender and Reply to don't match

2. The to address is not the same as your inboxes address. For example: Gmail has the option to pull emails down from other services via POP3. I use this so I don't have to periodically check my old Comcast.net email address. Things show up as To: gletob (AT) comcast DOT net and thunderbird flags it

I think Mozilla got it right xD. I don't know though, from the reviews I read windows 7 is supposed to be what vista should have been. Perhaps windows will steal back some of it's marketshare.
