I am moving from Ubuntu 32bit 8.04 to 64bit 9.04 and need some recommendations

Currently, I have two physical drives with Vista 64 on one and Ubuntu 8.04 on the other and I am dual-booting between the two.
I'll be doing a clean install of 64bit Ubuntu 9.04 on a new 1TB drive.
How do you recommend I partition the new drive? Should I use anything other than the installation disk to partition it?
If I copy my old home drive to the new install, will I run into problems due to the huge difference in OS's? What can I expect?
Thank you,
CO

/, /home, swap, the classic scheme.

No. Not unless the installer can manage it.

/home has just your personal settings, nothing more, so no, that shouldn't be a problem.
