hey
does anyone know of a way to password protect the x server's sleep mode? I was thinking that it would make the perfect screensaver. Just a simple blank screen, Decent power conservation, no need to install a new package, no extra daemons running etc.
good times & thanks.

you got ScreenSaver setting through System => Preference, don't you?
you can lock the screen after screensaver is on. and blank screen is available too.
Mine is Ubuntu Jaunty.

True, however I wanted to cut out the extra packages from my distro. I also dual boot gentoo on the side and I figured this kind of technique could come in handy--try it out on an easy system first and then try to implement it in gentoo :)
