I'll admit to a "smallish" problem that is an ongoing source of increasing frustration. It comes up on several different installations for me, however i haven;t seen it mentioned by other people, so it's not likely a -real- problem, but likely to be one of desktop customization

When applications open a File Selection Window, it pop's up a small window to allow me to select a file (or a directory) Intuitively I understand that if I should click a directory once it should select the directory, but a second click should open the directory.

well, the first click -select's- ok. however second click, double click, shift click will all attempt to rename the directory name with a small editable field.

it's that way for most applications, firefox, evolution, nautilus, netbeans, eclipse, jajuk, cups-pdf. :( It's not an issue with emacs...

I've check the gtk+ dialogs. The selector set's double click to open, single-click to select. [I think that what should control that behavior]

What am i missing?
