Could someone please find me the link to download VLC media player so I can install it without using the repository? I don't have internet at home and the default media player doesn't have the codecs to play divx and xvid videos. Thanks

Download single vlcxxx.deb is not fix your problem...coz there is alot of supporting pakages need to install vlc (called dependencies)...............

install from net in recommended way...or you can install other ubuntu system (same version) and collect all pakages and install to system 2 with the help of aptoncd http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net

Insatalling like windows (single .exe) is not the way of ubuntu....There is some possibilities but...it considered as a bad idea
