Spiders?

Saw this on the bottom of the page-

So, uh, what are spiders (in THIS context)?

I believe(Meaning I have no idea) That the spiders are these little "bugs" that crawl around the forums searching for items. Like if you google something, google uses their web spider to searched for whatever you typed it.

But that was only a guess I have no idea.
