My installation is Ubuntu 9.04, with kubuntu-desktop installed via apt-get.
I've made KDE my default for the time being, just to get used to it. One problem I'm having is that clicking on buttons in dialog boxes ([okay], [cancel], etc.) makes a popping noise. I don't get it with the KDE equivalent of the W*nd*ws "Start" button, or with any pull-down menus (which I don't use a lot anyway), but just on dialog buttons.
How can I get rid of that noise? I've tried wading through the KDE menus (which are pretty confusing, especially when interspersed between GNOME menus) and tried turning off every sound I can find in notifications. I don't find system sounds very useful in general, and I'm frustrated that turning them off isn't more intuitive.
Thanks.
