View Full Version : French student inviting Brainstorm users to survey or scam?

July 28th, 2009, 12:42 AM

Today I received an email apparently through my Ubuntu Brainstorm account (see next post for email).

I have asked around on IRC and noone seems to have gotten similar emails, and the survey looks a bit too much like a general market profiling questionnaire.

So I am suspicious (and in general too lazy to answer a questionnaire that claims to take 15 minutes while it obviously will take at least an hour), and wondering if this is legit. Anyone else seen this?

I looked through the survey and there is several references to Ubuntu. I think he's telling the truth.

I got the same email and while there are several questions related to ubuntu brainstorm, there are also a LOT of quite personal questions that are not even linux related. I started doing the survey, but once I got to some of the more personal questions I decided to discontinue answering questions.

There does seem to be a bit of university-level thesises being written about ubuntu brainstorm. I had another person from back east try to interview me via Skype. We tried, but we could not for the life of use get Skype, Yahoo or even Gizmo to work properly in linux. Stupid audio drivers :(
