No idea, I'm thinking it's some high pressure just hanging out between Alaska and here. It should get back down to the mid 20s by next week. It's funny because everywhere I look, they report it as maybe 30C, but all of my friends have thermometers around in the sun and shade and we would kill for it around there. I don't have AC in my apartment. *dies*

You're complaining about 57.2 - 69.8 degrees Fahrenheit?! It normally averages 90 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit here by Texas' Gulf Coast. What you're complaining about is what we want.

Close enough, San Antonio. Grew up in Houston, where its currently 93F and 58% humidity...much nicer over here even with the hotter temp IMO.

Yeah we have great thunderstorms here, although we're in a drought right now.

I think between the good food, the beer, and the weather, I'd have a really hard time moving somewhere else permanently.

Here in Central Texas, we have had it somewhere in the 100's. The hottest it has gotten here since I moved has been 111 and that was with 80% humidity. Before I got handicapped, I loved the heat. Now it just wipes my energy.

I used to live in Oregon and for two weeks in August it got into the 100's but we did not have AC but the humidity was not as high.

Well, according to how scientists theorize global warming will correct itself, that Gulf Stream won't be there in a few more decades. ;)

If that does indeed happen, most of Europe is screwed, as well.

Now add on the fact that we have, according to several sources, the worst air quality in the United States (http://www.stateoftheair.org/2009/city-rankings/polluted-cities-particle-pollution-year.html). Personally, I'd prefer 100% humidity to smog so thick I cannot see the silhouette of the mountains I am 15 minutes from by car.

Yeah, that's Bakersfield all right. Jeeze...

Riverside used to be the worst, and the state located CARB there to motivate the employees.

And people who think "oh, california is a DRY heat"
Yeah, that's a crock. It's totally average. Las Vegas is dry, like 3%, with a nasty wind filled with particulate silicate matter and heavy metals from the desert. Everyone I know who moved there developed a chronic cough or died outright from pulmonary disease.

When I did radio in NYC I'd do the midnight weather between songs and would see that it was 98F/98%...at freakin' midnight. Horrible.

San Francisco (east of Twin Peaks) was the best. +/-65 degrees every day year round and no smog. I loved it and lived there for about fifteen years until I inherited a house over in the Valley.

Oh well. At least I can grow tomatoes here.

You can keep your smog.

I have played golf in 45C (113F) without a cart and gone home to watch the thunderstorm in Sydney.

Where I live now is perfect from late February until the end of June, daytime max between 20 and 30 followed by 6 weeks of cool nights, maybe even a couple of frosts and 1 or 2 cold ( i.e. less than 15C (59F)) days then back to perfect weather until mid November. From Mid November until mid Feb it is low to mid 30s in the daytime and not much different at night.

Our biggest feature is rainfall. On track for 2 metres (79")this year. The heaviest I have seen here is 8" in one hour.

High today was 109 F. Sometimes it gets up to 116 or so. Luckily it's a dry heat so I don't get drenched but on the other hand it destroys your skin. When I lived in Cali my skin was nice and smooth. Now it gets dry and cracked during the summer, and it's even worse during the winter! I'll practically bleed to death from my dry skin cracking open.
