Which might explain why:
When installing XAMPP in Ubuntu 9.04 works fine Apache, MySQL, PHP, PERL, but when you use Synaptic to install a new application that requires Apache and Mysql, Synaptic does not detect that it is already installed and running Apache and MySQL (XAMPP) and want to reinstall.
What happens?
1) Once installed XAMPP, you can not use Synaptic?

2) Is there any way to install XAMPP in synaptic and mark as installed Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc..

3) Or I'm mixing things and very lost in my ignorance ..!

thanks and greetings

No xampp is not in the repo's. You can however install lamp and then install any extra features left out.

Do you use absolutely everything that comes packaged with xampp?
