can any one recommend a external hard drive and software for back up....

ps i was thjink about 500gb or may 1000gb. i have a ibm x60s (which is great)

External Hard Drive : I would buy go for WD
Backup tool : partimage, clonezilla, backintime and grsync.All are good, try them and select the one you like

most any external hard drive will do, I like "back in time " for software in Ubuntu...

I have the USB2.0 version of these, and it works great. Mine has a Samsung hard drive in it.

I can also recommend WD.

I have been very satisfied with their products (currently using a 250 GB external hard drive)
