Hello, I'm a complete newbie to linux. I have a multi-boot system with Windows XP and Ubuntu installed.

But recently, due to some problems, I had to format the Windows partition and reinstall Windows. Now when I start my computer, I don't see any list for selecting which OS to boot with. Instead, Windows XP starts automatically.

Please, tell me how to get the previous booting list.

Hi, you will need to restore grub. You can boot a Ubuntu live cd and follow this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351) to restore grub.
