Installing, please wait ...

I put my disc in to install and went to dinner for about 2 hours and still have Installing, please wait. The caps lock and scroll lock blink while this is happening and my cd/dvd drive doesn't show a green light. Is this ok, I really want to use ubuntu to help get my virus riddled xp back up. Right now I have a virus that doesn't even allow me to log in.
I am doing something wrong with this install?

Do a checksum on the .iso, burn at no more than 4x, and check the cd for errors at the opening menu to ensure that everything is ok before installing.
