I already have ubuntu 9.04 installed and i'm trying to dual boot with windows XP.

I booted into the ubuntu cd and resized the partition leaving 40GB open for XP. When i boot from the XP SP3 cd it runs through startup and when i try install it says "no hdd detected".

Option 1: Please help me, help XP, find its new home.

Option 2: How do i uninstall ubuntu so i can install XP on a clean drive, install Windows apllications, defrag, then install ubuntu afterwards which installs easily alongside XP.

After 6 months i'm enjoying linux more and more! Thanks.

Hopefully you created a primary partition for xp. If so, format it as ntfs and hopefully xp will find it. Windows knows nothing of linux filesystems.

No joy! I formatted the space as a primary drive to ntfs but XP SP3 still says it's lost with no hdd in sight.

How can i remove ubuntu leaving behind a clean disk for XP? Re-installing ubuntu to dual boot after XP is installed is easy.
