Not log ago I attached my Logitech 9000 and it worked nicely.
After a few system updates (my theory), Ekiga fails with a message window covering most of the Ekiga window. By moving the message window aside, Ekiga terminates immediately... something about a kernel palette configuration issue.
The Webcam is recognized, e.g., /dev/video0 and /dev/audio1.
The message window says...
Error while accessing video device UVC Camera...
... error opening the device. ..., please check your permissions and
make sure that the appropriate driver is loaded. ...
