How are you installing it?

1.By itself on the hard drive.
2.Dual boot.
3.Inside Windows with wubi.

Did you check the cd for defects? Its one of the options at the main menu.

It isn't the CD. I tried it with a new one and got the same response.

When you mean a new one are you referring to a iso that you have downloaded of Ubuntu and burn't to disk? If so make sure that the md5sum of the downloaded iso matches.

When I say new one I mean I burnt it to a different disk.I dont know if I did it right but it says the MD5 check sums are different.
