swap partition

Hi,

I need to install ubuntu server 9 with LVM and encrypted data partition.
I also need to have a swap partition on that server and have the following questions.

1. If the server has encrypted data partiton, is the swap partition must also be encrypted ?
2. As my data partition needs to be encrypted and with LVM, can I make a separate swap partition (i.e. not encrypted and no LVM) ??

Any comments are appreciated.
