9.04 internet problem (help please)

Hi all,

I'm a noob to ubuntu and just installed 9.04 on dual boot with xp on a thinkpad t60. I'm having trouble with the network. On the wireless network, Network Manager says I'm connected but I can't access the any websites or ping. Wireless works in xp. I tried updating resolv.conf with:

nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220

No help there.

Wired won't work with dhcp but when using static it also says connected but no internet or ping.

Any ideas?

also disabled ipv6 but that didn't do it.
