i tried partitioning my c: drive with the vista utility ... i had 30GB free but the partition utility told me
i had only 500MB so i run the ubuntu from my USB and partitioned the c:\ dir from there. i made a 4GB ext3 for
ubuntu and 800mb swap. and installed when i rebooted and tried accessing vista and all was black. when i tried accessing
d:\ where backup is, it worked but is corrupt c:\ was corrupted and vista had moved core files to a new x:\ dir i cant
restore to factory setting coz d:\ is corrupt and c:\ only works inside ubuntu. is there a way out of this
swamp.somebody saaaave meeee.:(:(

Assuming you've backed up your data here....

You've tried the repair function on the Vista CD/DVD? That would be my first step. If that doesn't work, I would reinstall Vista, then follow the instructions on these pages:

http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_f irst.htm

and if Vista's "shrink volume" function is not providing enough space:

Good luck.

did you defrag vista at least once or twice before shrinking? That can contribute to problems if not done and resizing vista's partition.
