hello everyone,
just installed hardy in my desktop to use it as a storage pc, to keep backups for my laptop and stuff.
the thing is that hardy comes with firefox 3.0 BETA 5, and I don't want the beta, but the latest stable version.. (jaunty comes with firefox 3.0.11).
If I go to synaptic, all I get is firefox 2.0.0.14 and 3.0 beta 5, even enabling the third party repositories...
Since hardy is an LTS, there should be a later version available... I think...

Thanks a lot

hi,

i believe the key word you are looking for is 'backport.'

this should help you out:

i did not find firefox 3.0 stable in the hardy backports...

...but i did find it listed in the hardy updates page:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy-updates/web/

aaaaand i do indeed remember, now that i think about it, that ff 3.0 came with a routine update after hardy was installed on my computer.

so, yeah, im pretty sure all you need to do is install hardy, pop open the update manager, and update as normal. (or wait for ubuntu to bug you to update. up to you.)
