I've been looking for a way to install my wireless card and my video card, but have hit a complete impasse and none of the installation guides make sense (because they all assume I know how to use linux).

Video Card:
ATI Radeon 9250 256mb PCI
WiFi:
Linksys WMP54GS

Does anyone know of a complete installation guide that would include all prerequisites for installing these devices?

Other than that, my machine is a dell dimension 3000, I am still running the original BIOS.

Found a wmp54gs thread that was VERY helpful. Still stuck on the ati card and can't find anything for ubuntu 9.04.

Have You tried the manufacturer site? They have Linux drivers and installation instructions for your Video Card. Try http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx. Hope it can help You.

That because there are NO drivers for your video card that work with Ubuntu 9.04, no restricted drivers, that is. You're stuck using the open source drivers as AMD/ATI dropped support for your card and lots of others.

I got a ati radeon 9200/9250 (9200 pro), it works , but never it will run compiz and I have problems running scilab's graphs.
Is there a way to improve old cards performance?.
