Are you installing it using synaptic or the add/remove application?

From our x86-64 users section of the forum. Really simple and has worked flawlessly for me on Hardy, intrepid & Jaunty. 64 bit flash (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=772490)
P.S. first remove all other versions of flash you have installed/tried to install including swfdec and gnash

I just use scripts. This has worked for me and a few of my friends.
$ wget http://queleimporta.com/downloads/flash10_en.sh
$ sudo bash ./flash10_en.sh
