I got Gparted to check out an 80gig hard drive intended to store backup files on my computer.

I bought the drive at a flea market.

1. The drive makes a curious clicking noise when it first starts up. It takes a little while for Gparted to find it.
2. When I right click on the drive (/dev/sbd) in Gparted, I don't have the option to format the drive.
3. This is what I get on the terminal when I load up the drive, check it using Gparted, or try to put a partition on the drive.

Unable to open /dev/fd0 read-write (Read-only file system). /dev/fd0 has been opened read-only.
Input/output error during read on /dev/fd0
Unable to open /dev/sdb - unrecognised disk label.

Obviously I don't know what's going on here, any advice appreciated! Thanks!
