so i just dowloaded the netbook remix of ubuntu, how do i install it as my OS? step by step please, i boogered up big last time.thnx!

I assume you are putting it on a netbook. If that is the case you will need to put the iso image on a USB stick and boot from there. Did you download the .iso file to a Linux System or windows?

try unetbootin

Yes Unetbootin will work for both windows and Linux.

i dont know how to boot or have an iso image.. i just dowloade the file from this site. where do i go from there? i am using a windows xp, eee pc. and i saved the file to my external hard drive

ok, so the netbootin isnt working at all. it just stops responding this is geting irritating, i have been trying to install ubuntu for like 8 hours.

If you have downloaded the netbook remix, it should be a .img file. To install, follow the instructions here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromImgFiles) for windows and select the usb drive and the image file, then write it to the disk. Then you sould have a bootable usb drive.
