View Full Version : [ubuntu] blank screen after installation

I used UNetbootin to create a bootable USB stick with Ubuntu 9.04 Live. This booted fine on my Dell Optiplex. After playing with the OS for a while I clicked the Install icon on the Ubuntu screen and installed Ubuntu side by side with the existing Windows XP OS. The installer repartitioned my disk as expected and proceeded to install.

During the install process I received the message "An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed". Otherwise, the install appeared to complete OK.

When I reboot the PC the GRUB bootloader appears as expected, and if I select Windows XP it boots fine, but if I select Ubuntu I get the initial Ubuntu logo with a progress bar, then the screen goes completely blank except for the mouse pointer.

Is there a boot log somewhere I can examine to determine the problem?

Thanks!
