View Full Version : [xubuntu] Powerbook G4 dial-up usb modem not detected
July 18th, 2009, 10:07 PM
We are still on dial-up internet connection and I have installed GnomePPP on my PowerBook G4 1.67GHz. The setup does not detect any modem, though. Neither the inbuilt modem nor an external USB modem. Am I using the wrong software? I am running Xubuntu 9.04 with xfce 4.6.0.

hi, I am new to this forum.
I installed 8.04 server on my ppc G4 AGP success. But the internal modem can not be detected.
I planned to use this old G4 to be the fax server of my internet LAN (with windows PC & G4). I installed the hylafax-server on this G4 PPC, and hylafax-client software (Win32 version) on my PCs.
when I set up the "faxsetup" on the 8.04 server, it can not detect on ttyS0, ttyS1 ... ttyS5 etc.
I opened the G4 and saw the modem is in the logic board.
If anyone have any hint to teach me how to setup the internal modem of the G4 ?
(I tried the same setup on another PC which have internal PCI modem, it can be detected right away on ttyS0.)
