hi friends
i have downloaded firefox 3.5 tar package from mozila website. please tell me how can i install this package to replace the older version of firefox. i'm a new user of linux and ubuntu, so please tell me how can it be done.

Hi, if you are using Jaunty you can install firefox 3.5 from the jaunty repos.
sudo apt-get install firefox-3.5
It will be then shown in Applications>Internet>Shiretoko

No, you will still have the older version of firefox installed as well.
