I've got a serious problem.
I'm tired of Windows, so I decided to try Ubuntu. I downloaded the Ubuntu iso and I burned it on a CD. I inserted the CD and asked to reboot the computer. I did it and then a Ubuntu logo appeared. After a while with the logo and a loading bar running, the display quit working and the computer didn't do anything. I waited for it to go back to normal but it didn't so I rebooted it and it kept on doing nothing. I took the CD out and rebooted it again and still didn't do anything. It's really weird. Nothing works. I'm not an expert on computer so I don't really know what to do. I hope you can help me, thank you very much.

Did you md5sum the .iso file first?

I find dvd makes the best boot media (slowest burn speeds).

that is weird. can you clarify 'nothing'?

no power lights come on?

they do come on, but windows does not start?

windows STARTS to start, but does not boot all the way?

please be as specific as possible :)

hello "earthpigg",
i press the on button and the power light comes. the fan also turns on and so does the cd drive but nothing else. nothing appears on the screen and the mouse light doesn't turn on when i move it. i have tried to put the computer recovery cd but it doesn't do anything.
thanks.
