how to install log4c in ubuntu?

everyone im a newbie to linux or ubuntu.
can any one explain me step by step procedure for installing log4c and a simple demo program of log4c .

Already i have seen http://log4c.sourceforge.net which doesn't provide much information.

So, any help appreciated

system -> administration -> synaptic package manager -> search for log4c

i am not a programmer, so i dont know which of that dozen or so packages i can see would be what you are looking for.... but that is usually how you would go about installing software in Ubuntu :D
