So I installed ubuntu on a computer but when I try to load it I get GRUB error 18. I looked around for how to fix this problem, but nothing I found helped me.

I am installing it as the only operating system on the computer. The hard drive is absolutely clean. It is an 80 gb drive.

A common option I found was going into the BIOS and changing the settings for the hard drive. Problem is, after checking every possible place in the BIOS, I cannot change (or find) the setting.

Any suggestions? And if you need any other info about the computer, let me know.

Sorry to rush thru this thread. Am in the midst of a reconfigure (searching for something in the forum) when I saw your thread and thought I'd share Herman's link and his tips on error 18.

Will be back in 40 mins. to check this thread. Good luck.
