Monitor Flicker

I am new to Ubuntu and have just installed Ubuntu 9.04. My monitor is displaying a bit of flicker and I am sure that there must be a way to check & set the refresh rate to at least 60.

I assumed that System/Administrator would give me something like Monitor or Screen. I do not see anything that looks familiar. Where/how do I check/adjust the screen refresh rate?

Try System > Preferences > Display, but it may be that you need to install a driver for your graphic card from System > Administration > Hardware Drivers.
