Hi.

I have a laptop that came with Windows Vista, last year i got a copy of Linux Mandriva and put that on here, it dual boots to either vista or Mandriva.

I never used Mandriva much, and would now like to go to Ubuntu, since for me i like the look and feel of Ubuntu.

What i want to do is remove Mandriva, and then install ubutnu without messing up the boot loader (need to still have access to my vista files).

How would i go about doing this?

Thanks.

You can install into your existing mandriva partitions. Even if there are problems with grub, it is easy to fix so you can access vista.

Ok so just format the Mandriva partition and install Ubuntu on there?

In the install of Ubuntu are there any special settings i need to set?

Ubuntu should find your existing mandriva partition, so you probably do not need to format it in advance. How much space do you have free?

I believe i gave the Mandriva partition 10gb so lots of space.
