Install help...

Just got the linux disc from 'linux forum' magazine. Disc boots ok from drive, ubuntu logo apears with menu options. Selecting either the 1st or 2nd option, linux appears to load but video then goes blank. All printers, cameras etc. have been disconnected. Any suggestions please?

Check disk for errors at opening menu, and try safe video mode (press F4 at the menu for booting options).

2) What version of Ubuntu is it?
