Can anyone suggest a straightforward guide or book that would help outline the basic tasks to keep computers healthy? I'm becoming a volunteer system administrator at a local church, but this is outside of my comfort zone as a professional computer programmer.
I'm up for both OS-centric, as well as non-OS-centric guides, as the church has both Mac and Windows computers. I'll probably be applying some of these technizues at home also as I plan to get a computer for use by my family, including my children. My current computer is pretty much mine alone. The next will be multi-user.
Thoughts on proper security and making proper backups, etc would be nice.
