View Full Version : eBook collection app?

OK, I've tried GCstar (best so far), Tellico, GCO and several others. While they are all good apps, I'd like one that I can give my /comics directory to, it'd whizz through it and list all the comics in sub-directories, grab covers from inside the CBR/CBZ files and, in the end, allow me to edit the information (titles, dates etc). Oh, and it would also need to allow me to manually enter my old-fashioned-paper comics too. :D

Any ideas?

Like I said, most apps are good, but don't scan directories for CBR/Z files.

I don't know how well it will work, but you could try radicalcodex:

RadicalCodex is certainly along the right lines, it will import covers from CBR/Z files, but it won't let me manually add paper books to the collection.

Also RadialCodex is one seriously broken app! I add folders to a collection and it immediately removes them from the collection making them only viewable in the 'all books' section. The 'drag and drop' doesn't work and it also forgets it's saved options. :(

I haven't tried radicalcodex, but based on his radical comic designer, I believe you. I tried to make a simple comic with it, and it was so incredibly slow, and at one point, I just had to change the picture I was using, because it just couldn't handle a picture with a fairly normal resolution.

Two comic organizers you could try are Comix (http://comix.sourceforge.net/) and Comical (http://comical.sourceforge.net/). I don't know about eBook organizers because I don't use one but those two are great for comics.

You should also try Alexandria book organizer (alexandria.rubyforge.org). It's a free GNOME application and works fine for me
