i tried to use VirtualDub to capture from my webcam (i plan to use a video camera but don't have one yet so just testing with webcam) but it gives me the "no capture driver error".

i realise what that means but because i'm running this prog through wine whats the chances that a video cam (that would usually work under windows) will work to the point i would be able to capture some video?

this virsion of virtualdub is platinum on wine (and says "everything works"), and i'm hoping its just my webcam thats being crappy.

i tried to test it in my windows xp virtual machine but it didn't like it either (probably for a virtualbox related reason though).

any thoughts on this?
thanks,
zammy

UP!

I'm trying to capture video trough my Hauppauge TV card. The Only linux native tool who works is Cheese, but the Theora encoder is too slow for realtime capturing.

I'm trying With VirtualDub and HuffYUV codec under wine, but VirtualDub Cannot acess my capture device...
