Is there a Total Commander for Ubuntu? and maybe something in the line of Winamp for a music player?

A WinAmp equivalent that I like that is not listed in the above link is amarok. It is kde and in the repositories.

I would go for Amarok for the music player as well.

vlc is an excellent equivalent for WinAMP, but for something even better, install Songbird! It rocks.

For audio player which is similar to Winamp try:

For Total Commander, see http://www.ubuntux.org/total-commander-for-linux . If you prefer CLI, there is mc.

For a Gnome music player, I'd recommend either vlc or Exaile.

For a Total Commander replacement, I prefer Midnight Commander. It is in the repositories, search for mc, or just click the link: apt://mc
