Well my dad has a Compaq Deskpro EN and for some reason, the power supply crowbar got activated and the PC is in-operational. This was like last week I think. Apparently it's coz of some spill in the mains. The PC doesn't boot. It starts then the crowbar gets activated, bringing down the power to such a low amount that nothing but the power LED works. But that is RED instead of GREEN. The LED blinks once in two seconds, so according to a reference I found on the net and also on a sticker on the cover of the PC, it's the Power Supply Crowbar. Anyone know how to reset this? Thanks...

Remove the crowbar from the computer if you can (be sure to unplug first.) Then buy a new PSU.

In the future, try to restrain your rage.

dude, if you meant that as a joke it was funny, but as a person that's highly ticklish (so much that the slightest joke would set me off laughing and I can't stop) I didn't get that until a couple of seconds delay. The thing is this blasted thing is NOT a real crowbar man...I'm pretty sure you know what I mean :lolflag: Oh and BTW, it ain't my PC.

Have you checked the support area of Compaq/HP's website?

Google is your friend (http://www.motherboardpoint.com/power-supply-crow-bar-t60248.html) =]

First post isn't very optomistic, but about half way down the page it says;

Crowbar and other power supply protection features are reset
by removing power cord from wall.

But following posts say that it doesn't help :confused:

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowbar_(circuit)) says to reset it remove the power going into it.

It looks like if that doesn't work your gonna have to get a new PSU :( This time though, make sure to get a good quaility surge protector. Belkin models are great, and have a fantastic lifetime warrenty. Mine is one of the cheapest Belkin models, cost around 35 Euro, but has a lifetime guarentee and a warrenty for up to 35,000 Euro. More expensive ones go up higher, and include some other features. Its saved my computer a good few times :D

Have you tried unplugging it from the mains supply for 24 hours?
