View Full Version : [ubuntu] how do i get ubuntu 9.04 install

sorry for this but im new to linux

im trying to install ubuntu but keep getting

loading please wait

BusyBox v1.10.2 (ubuntu 1:10.2-2ubuntu7) built-in shell (ash)
enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands

(initramfs)

really confused as i thought it would go in to some graphics srceen like windows :(

Hi,

nothing to be sorry for !!

Ensure you have the latest CD for Ubuntu, the bootable disk image (ISO) can be gotten from here

http://releases.ubuntu.com/9.04/

Unless you have non-standard computer, select the 1st option (Intel x86)

Burn the ISO image, boot with it and you will get the options to run it from CD without altering your system, or installing it.

If you are going to install - MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR DATA !!!

Try the text-based alternate install cd, and be sure to do a checksum on the donwloaded .iso and burn at no more than 4x speed.

i got it to run on another pc

amd i got 8.04 to run on the pc i want 9.04 to run on
