I have set up a dual boot Mac OS X/Ubuntu 9.04 on my old PowerPC iMac 20" G5.

Things are going pretty well, except than when the poor old iMac gets busy the fans keep cutting in and out. This does not occur when I am running Mac OS X.

I looked at the System log I see a series of entries (extract as below).

windfarm: Clamping CPU frequency to minimum !
windfarm: Overtemp condition detected !
windfarm: CPU frequency unclamped !
windfarm: Overtemp condition cleared !

They occur every minute or so ONLY when the system has bee used a fair bit and it is under load. When things quiet down the fans do not run as bad, just like it works under Mac OS X.

Is there something I can do to stop this occuring? As I said this does not happen when running the same computer under Mac OS X.

I would like to keep Ubuntu running on this iMac rather than Mac OS X because it is so much faster!

Please let me know if you can help!
