I am running 9.04 ubuntu on my machine
I have three sata drives

First is running ubuntu 9.04

2nd is a funky gateway windows xp drive with a protected recovery partition

third is a data drive recognized by xp

I am running grub to allow me to swap between boot drives.

On 9/7/09 I booted into ubuntu and allowed the updater to update the system.

During the reboot something failed and generated a trace back that I could not follow.

I rebooted and received the NTLDR not found hit CTRL+ALT+DEL message

I disconnected all drives from the machine and connected up only the ubuntu drive.

The BIOS does not recognize the ubuntu drive.

Booting from the ubuntu 9.04 desktop also indicates the drive is not detected

reconnecting all the drives the machine now boots from the windows drive and i see no message about NTLDR not found.

What do I need to do to recover my ubuntu drive with its data and have it be recognized by the BIOS??
