Have any of you met rms? What kind of a person is he in real life? I'd love to meet him somebody, he sounds like a very interesting guy from what I've read.

I also think he has many very interesting viewpoints.
And I think his intellect is way way WAY above average.

I wonder what he thinks of the "Scandinavian model".

That would be the Scandinavian economic model, not how we look.

i watched a video on some website, it was quite a well made documentary about the early years of linux (can't remember the name, some one else may know), it had interviews with linus torvalds and RMS and others, he just seemed to go on alot free software and how linux is GNU/Linux, kind of like what you would expect.

I have met both Linus and RMS. I used to email RMS a lot and we had some good discussions. Linus is a really nice funny guy. Very down to earth.

I met RMS briefly in 2004 for a talk he was giving, I hung around afterwards and talked with him for about 1:30, it was pretty overwhelming to be honest.

I've been in email contact with him again recently though, trying to organise a talk (though perhaps a workshop) at ANU some time next year.

Should be cool, and he sounds fairly keen. The plus here is, I get to have him stay at my house >.> (If you guys know of Andrew Tridgell (Samba fame) when RMS came in 2004 he stayed with Andrew, some interesting stories I have heard :)).
