Hey, looks like I'm a great overclocker! ;)

btw this is in virtualbox (as title suggests). You couldn't of thought for a second that I would actually be running windows natively....could you?

Greetings, visitor from the future. Welcome to 2009. How long before we have processors like that?

Never. It defies laws of physics (unless we develop some hyper-efficient cooling hardware...)

but the future is paralellism, not mindlessly ramping up clock speed as was done a couple of years ago or so with the Prescott, up to 3.8GHz stock on the EE P4 I belive....

WRONG!!!!!!

It is impossible using the current technologies we use, but that's because we restrict ourselves to Silicon.

Diamonds are a geeks best friend (http://blog.mehall.co.cc/?p=68), however.

But in theory parallelism, if used properly, can yield much more performance than raw CPU power on a single chip, by today's standards, and I think it's likely to remain that way.But not until we actually develop applications properly designed for more than a few cores (or just one in many sad cases), will we be able to properly leverage this power.
